What Seaside California lacks in high rises and rolling hills filled with multilevel malls and boundless shopping center with makes up for in class and charm. Resting in one of the few areas where poverty is almost extinct, few people in this ocean lined little paradise understand what it is to want. Unfortunately where millionaires play and money talks, these closets hold countless skeletons. Still, despite the secrets and scandal, the town is divided up just as the social ladder demands. The Seaside community consists of four main neighborhoods.
Sunset Cove rests in the upper north corner of Seaside and is homes to the residential streets of the towns’ most wealthy and connected families. Street after street of mansions, historical homes, and multilevel beach houses trim the town’s only beachfront residential community.
North Haven, which can be found in the heart of Seaside, is a small, gated series of streets that house the town’s middle-class and upper-middle class residents. These streets are quaint and family friendly, with an almost picturesque view of well kept, three and four bedroom homes, two car garages, and the occasional much larger (but still realistic) home.
The Palm Grove Townhouses is actually a development that went much better than expected. There are roughly 200 of these houses scattered along a strip of town that technically borders the business community and North Haven, and while the leases are slightly high, the population of the townhouses enjoy resource brackets from upper-crust to middle class, a 24 fitness center, two tennis courts, and a large saltwater pool.
Located in the south eastern corner of Seaside, The Fens, which are bordered on the south by a large and once popular inlet, are no longer up to par with the cities more upscale image. Hardly what most would call a slum, the residents view it as just that. This area rests just outside the main portions of the business areas, which allows the locals to forget that it exists. Made up of narrow streets and small homes, this area boarders the lower-middle class income bracket. While naturally areas like this do have a slightly higher crime rate, murders, drug lords, hookers, and gangs have yet to penetrate Seaside’s smooth exterior.
Note On Crime:
Of course, drugs, fights, and the occasional but nonetheless shocking suicide or murder DO happen, but in towns like this they normally carried out by blue-collar folk and rebellious youth, rather than the cliche California thug.
